If you have had the privilege to ride the new Timberliner trains, you experienced a wooden roller coaster ride not possible with any other wooden roller coaster train.  The new agile Timberliners can navigate dramatically tighter turns and significantly more extreme twists.  The trains have created a whole new breed of wooden coaster of smoother, longer-lasting, more dynamic rides while still maintaining that classic wonderful wooden roller coaster experience.  Our latest ad featured in Amusement Today highlights our two new rides that are running the new Timberliner trains.

In Connencticut, USA at Quassy Amusement Park, the local regulations required a maximum structure height of 35 feet (11 m).  However, the park didn’t want just a blase roller coaster confined to the lack of height and speed.  Knowing this was going to be their landmark ride, they also did not want to invest in a ride that would not give an exceptional ride experience.  With the capabilities of the Timberliners, we were able to optimize the twists, turns and hills for maximum thrills while still keeping the park’s younger market focus.  In regards to the debatably most important ingredient on a roller coaster, airtime, these trains can enable a coaster to have more airtime than any other.

Across the pond in the beautiful city of Stockholm, Sweden, the challenge was to create and maximize a new wooden roller coaster experience for their new boardwalk area.  When all the sawdust settled, Twister debuted as a new signature ride for the skyline of Gröna Lund.  Once it opened, the rave reviews started pouring in.  The staff and riders continue to be amazed not only that the ride fit into the tiny location but also for its spectacular ride experience.

Below in the first photo you can see the lack of space into which the roller coaster was to fit.  The next image shows a rendering overlay of how the ride would look crammed into that space.  The final image shows the final Twister as if it had always existed.  New technology, creativity and a little craziness all came together to create these two new wonderful rides featuring the Timberliners.
