Twisty Turny 08 Jan 09 - Posted by Mike
Here are a few new construction photos from the other side of the world showing progress on the midsection of the Fireball at Happy Valley in Shanghai.
It’s hard to picture where these photos are taken, so here’s a rendering of the area. The turnaround drop in the first photo can be seen on the right side of the rendering. The second photo and the rendering share a similar vantage point. The other renderings can be found on the news page.

Dang, I want to ride it! Regrettably, I don’t regularly make it over to China… any consideration to taking some experienced GG riders to show those Chinese how to enjoy it?
wow that looks like a great labyrinth of wood, I’m gonna add china on my places to visit list
Out of curiosity, has the layout changed since the NL rendering was done? Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like the drop off the first turnaround now goes under the “twisty turny” bit and doesn’t do the double-up over it as the rendering shows. What was the reason for the change? Also, can we expect any other changes in the layout? Sorry if I’m nitpicking, but I’m always interested in how design decisions get made!
Looks beautiful!
Wow that’s beautiful. It looks great so far but will Happy Valley take care of this ride to keep it in prime condition?
Bill,
Check out the new post, “Ch-ch-ch-changes (how a ride design changes over time).” That should answer your great questions. There are a number of other changes too that will be evident as the construction continues.
