Top Secret 15 Jan 09 - Posted by Korey
A favorite question that people often ask us is, “What new rides are you working on?” We often smile and just tell them that we can’t say. It’s top secret.
Our lips are sealed.
We don’t publish anything until a park releases information. We put together a lot of proposals and ride concepts. Some proposals turn into the rides we love, like Hades and The Voyage. Sadly, some ride concepts never come to fruition. As a company, we do our best to work with parks and capture their vision (and budget) for a ride concept.
We help park owners envision the ride that we are proposing with animations, models, and renderings of the ride concept. These documents are often also used for the permit process and later for marketing.
One example of us working with a park came last week when Quassy Amusement Park released the following information to Amusement Today:
Quassy announces proposal for new wooden roller coaster (Jan 8, 2009)
Quassy Amusement Park, Middlebury, Conn., will be proposing the construction of a new wooden roller coaster at the February meeting of the Town of Middlebury Planning & Zoning Commission.
The proposed 1,200-foot-long coaster would stand 35-feet-tall and be constructed by The Gravity Group of Cincinnati.
This is the first step in the process to build the coaster with a construction start date to be determined should the town approve the project.
Quassy Amusement Park opens its 101st season Apr. 25. The family-owned, family-oriented park charges no general admission. All-day wristbands or individual ride tickets are available. For more information visit www.quassy.com.
Stay tuned for more details!

Cool… sounds like a great reason to go ride Boulder Dash again! (It helps that my wife is from CT)
how would the train top the third hill? it seems to be the same height as the first.
Interesting… Gravity Group’s first small-scale project. Looks like it will be a lot like the New Mexico Rattler, the last coaster CCI built – and the one that most started to show the Gravity Group style.
how much would a coaster that size cost?
I’m guessing it would cost around $1 million (Voyage cost $8.5 million, New Mexico Rattler cost $2 million, Legend cost $3 million).
Jonny:
That is a good logic path. Unfortunately, rarely are posted prices correct.
wvufreshman:
Sorry, but typically prices are kept confidential.
Looks great and very family-friendly, especially with all the bunny hops hugging the ground. It looks like a great fit for Quassy and perhaps even a worthy candidate for those Timberliner trains
thanks TGG. i guess thats all a part of todays society. but i was just goin for a guestimate (kind of like jonnys logic).
What kind of trains will this ride use? Can we pry that away from you guys?
Ryan:
No pry bar can let us say more.
Let’s give it a shot. I think PTC trains would do, because Timberliners will place riders in a single row, and a family coaster must be enjoyed by the entire family. With the PTC trains you’re with four people close to eachother. Does that make sense?
