Fortune Cookie says New Coaster in China Will Appear

Drumroll please… The Gravity Group will be designing another ride in China!  This next one will be at the same chain of parks (OCT) with this one in Tianjin, a huge neighboring city of Beijing.  Like the other rides in China, this one is also built by Martin & Vleminckx.

Historical Pictorial: 10/2004 – Gee, what if…?

In late 2004, we began posing the question, “Gee, what if…?  Historically and even today our group has always embraced challenges.  At the time of this Amusement Today ad, much of Hades‘ structure was standing above – and below – ground at Mt. Olympus Theme Park.  Photos had not revealed the big surprise of the record-breaking 90 degree banked turn in the tunnel, but certainly showed this ride was going to be very special as well as very big. Of course, this could not have happened if we did not say “G why not?”

Historical Pictorial: 06/2004 – Ramping Up

In our first three years as a company, we landed a variety of small and larger jobs.  We also began our first big new ride, Hades at Mount Olympus Theme Park.  By summer of 2004, its record setting underground tunnel started rising from its pit, soon followed by mystery of what surprises that tunnel may hold.

Our second company ad gives a nod to Hades and a few other projects during this time.

Historical Pictorial: 11/2003 – Engineers For Your Park

Digging through our archives, it is great to see how far we have come, and it is even more exciting to see where we are headed.  Each of our advertisements tell a story so we thought we would create a series to tie together all of these snapshots of our company.

Our first ad that we could find was published in November of 2003.  At that time, we had a number of projects under our belt that got our company onto its feet.  We were getting ready to display our first Gravity Group booth at the IAAPA Expo, thus the booth note on the ad.  Some of these completed projects were quite unique and included consulting on The Polar Express movie, structural detailing of buildings and foundations of other amusement rides.

Here is a list of our projects including some of those early unique ones.  Also interesting is this exhaustive list of our experience before the start of The Gravity Group.
