Testing our trains at Holiday World a few weeks back gave us the chance to step away from our desks and get dirty.  We think that being “hands on” is important for engineers.

Designing something better from the comfort of an office is one thing.  Having to work on what you designed is the true test.  And so we got our fingernails dirty and worked on our cars.  We wanted to experience what a ride mechanic experienced and find out just how easy it is to work on our cars.  (And yes, our cars ended up being quite easy to work on.)

Operating the controls on The Raven gave me an opportunity to practice my spiel on the bags of corn:

“Welcome back kernels, lend me your ears!  We hope you enjoyed your flight on The Raven.  Enjoy the rest of your day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, where we are number one for family fun!”
